What is the difference between a Zen master and a pack rat?A pack rat is someone who holds on to everything and uses nothing.A Zen master is someone who uses everything and holds on to nothing.Big difference! One of the best time management insights is that this moment passes, as does the next, and the next.If you can do the most with each one, that's ideal. But this means you're constantly embracing and letting go, embracing and letting go, and it's not easy to do.We get caught up in the past, dwelling on unsatisfactory experiences, and untidy conclusions. We worry about the future.Either way, we sacrifice the present. The key is to use everything around us, in us, and every present moment. For example, earlier this morning, I awoke because I was thinking about a client who is late in paying his bill.Catching myself, I realized my sleep time was over! By trying to get BACK to sleep, I was trying to go backwards in time, which is impossible.Because it was 4:45 in the morning, it was too early to call him, and ask him what's going on. But I knew also, that it would be an utter waste to worry about whether he'll stiff me on the payment. So, I asked, what can I do, now, to address this issue in the most constructive, satisfying way?Immediately, I turned on the computer and wrote an article: "The Deal Is Not Made Until The Money Is Paid!"Doing this made me feel good, and I also felt that I addressed my problem, which is not the unpaid account. The problem is the worry about it, and the potential for wasting the present by chasing money from the past, which may or may not be paid in the future! No moment has to be considered a waste, if we are fully in the here and now to embrace it and let it go, and keep doing what's situationally appropriate.Dr. Gary S. Time to Make Time Work for You
Author : Martin Haworth
Of all the topics that are raised in arenas where management are discussed, Time Management is one of the most frequent, Here's some great thoughts on why - and how you can find great solutions to the issues raised.Time management in itself has proved to be an important element of modern-day business management (of activities) . To attain the highest performance standards and quality in your management career, you've got to get this right. There are some skills which may need a little practice, or your capacity to manage your time adequately would stay very tricky. So we need to take a look at what's involved, so that we can take the best shot at getting it right. There are lots of ideas on the subject around. There are some great books, like Mark Forster's "Get Everything Done and Still Have Time to Play" and many resources online too. Not forgetting that many management related organisations and colleges hold classes that are often great value. It is always worth looking at a local college which might have something to suit you - especially if they have links with one of the major business schools, though these days, mini-topics such as Time Management are offered as modules which are free-standing and can be used one their own.Remember that just a little thought about how you spend your time will often kick-start the change process. If you 'notice' how things are, you will be far more inclined to start to make little changes that will make all the difference. For a couple of hints, remember that you can always assess those things that you personally don't need to do - this often indicates that you are finding 'nice-to-do' rather than necessary to do things - for yourself to enjoy, which is OK, as long as it isn't getting in the way of where you best add value.A great way of looking at time management is to consider what you would do if you only had half the time in your week - where would you best spend that time. Concentrates the mind, doesn't it?If you are faced with challenges about managing your time, remember that if you keep doing the same thing, you are likely to get the same results. Making changes will often deliver outcomes which are far better than what you've been putting up with.No one can make sure that you do time management better. It's rather down to you to step up and be counted!© 2005-6 Martin Haworth is a Business and Management Coach. Managing Stress and Time
Author : Michael Bens
Managing stress and time is a rewarding achievement that all must maintain in order to reach success. Each day we wake up, we begin by stressing to meet deadlines, demands, and finding time to spend with our family, selves and friends. This seems virtually impossible since there are only 24-hours in a single day and at least of eight of those hours are consumed with sleep. The challenge of maintaining stress and time brings forth many obstacles, and most times, we find it difficult to maintain. In this article, we are going to work some techniques that help reduce stress and add more time to your management scheme. See, stress is a direct result of not handling your emotions in accordance to the many stressors that attack your life. The key then is finding a solution to get in touch with your emotions. When our emotions are in a sudden outburst, we often suffer tremendous and lack the ability to function to our fullest capacity.Emotions can also affect how we hear people talk, and how we talk to people. This is called irrational behavior since the mind is not thinking to its capacity. The key then is finding a "rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT)," that works best for your mind. REBT is an action process that requires the individual to approach his or her emotions, while providing them the support to stay in contact with who they are and at the same time find a resolve within self. The plan makes it a convenient method in approaching life's problems in full light, while overcoming stress. The therapy technique requires only a few minutes of your time each day. We can start by telling our minds to think positive and believe in what we are telling ourselves. Emotions are a strong force we want to stop before they take control of our lives. If we have negative emotions, it affects our time management scheme since negative emotions puts fear and doubt into our heads.Thinking Positive:We all must remember that we are responsible for decisions and behaviors, and that stress is the product of irrational thinking. By learning how to think reasonable and keeping a positive outlook on life, it is possible to manage stress and time. To learn we must practice. Practice makes perfect! This means that you will take a few minutes per day to tell yourself that you are responsible for you, and that you have full control of your mind and the decisions you make. You have control of your behavior and no one else. Once you have accepted responsibility of your actions and decisions you will soon find the rest an easy road to travel. In other words, you will soon follow a pattern of wise decisions, when you learn to trust self and accept that we all make mistakes.Mistakes are common, but the key to success is learning from your mistakes. If you are stressed as a result of overloads in the workplace, home, and world, then you need to set up some space for yourself. This means that your time management scheme will need thoughtful planning so that you achieve a specific level of time to manage your stress. Putting off your responsibilities is the process of creating more problems. Therefore, it is important that you create a plan and carrying out the responsibilities as soon as possible. This is putting your plans into action. Action is the process of making something work. When you are working toward goals, things will run smoothly since your plan is in place.Once you reach your short-term goals, the next step is working to achieve your long-term goal, which requires more action on your part and follow the same golden rules. So take the time out each day to think positive, since motivation is essential for time management and reducing stress. Do not get caught up in self-punishment, which can only bring you down and stumble your time management scheme. Risks are fine as long as you do not have danger in your way. Remember taking risks is a part of life, and this article is geared to dare you to take the risk to become more productive in your everyday life. For more great free resources on how to manage your time visit Gabae Time Management. Also for more informative articles on time management visit Gabae Time Management Articles.

Retirement and Three Little Words that can Sabotage Your Life!
Author : Ellie Wellwood
As we near retirement there are three words that many of us want to delete from our vocabulary. They are structure, discipline and schedules. How do you feel when you hear them? If you're like me, retirement means you want to push away from structure, leave schedules behind, and escape from discipline. Your mindset can make the difference between frustration or joy during the third stage of life. After all, these are your Power Years! My dreams in retirement were to embrace the word freedom into my daily experience. As I left my full-time career in a fortune 500 company, my motto was, Free at Last! What a shock, when freedom alone didn't serve me very well. Let me share how I discovered the secret to turning this around to serve rather than sabotage me.There has been a great deal of press in 2006 about baby boomers beginning to turn 60. Boomers are living longer and healthier than past generations and are revolutionizing retirement. As a baby boomer, I see the second stage of my life as an opportunity to rediscover, reinvent, and revitalize myself. Many of us today are retiring from our first career by the age of 55. No longer do we embrace our parents and grandparents definition of retirement as a time to sit back and simply relax. Don't get me wrong; we love leisure activities. However, we also want to live vital and active lives with purpose and meaning. This is a time to make a real difference in the world. In fact, many of us believe the word retirement should be permanently retired. Baby boomers are choosing to refocus their energy into many different transitional experiences -- some will become entrepreneurs and begin businesses of their own, others aspire to volunteering time and energy for causes that touch their hearts, still others may decide to go back to school, and many will find themselves helping adult children and grandchildren as they move through their own challenges, such as divorce. Many baby boomers have found the services of a Personal Life Coach helps them successfully navigate through their transitions. In my own new retirement, I yearned for simplicity. I felt that simplifying would give me a sense of peace and freedom. However, I found my three problematic words, structure, discipline and schedules beginning to haunt me. I came to a realization: without structure, discipline and schedules in my life, simplicity was elusive. Darn it! Life became a bit frustrating and chaotic, especially when I began my own business as a Personal Life Coach. I realized that without these three concepts in my life it was impossible to make progress. With the help of my own Life Coach, I came to the realization that I could simply use new words that spoke to me in more positive ways. I learned just how powerfully words can affect our thinking. I created a plan.In my new plan:
Structure became Design, Plan, a System
Discipline became Determination, Focus, Method, Self-Mastery
Schedule became Timetable, Program, ItineraryNow I create a plan and focus with determination as I follow my timetable to accomplish my goals. These new words gave me a feeling of power, energy and even lightness. I no longer saw them as restrictions but rather a vehicle towards freedom.Today I find myself moving through each day with ease - with a feeling of accomplishment, purpose and fulfillment. Free at last! If you are stumbling over some words in your life that hold you back and keep you stuck, pull out the thesaurus and try on some new, fresh ones and see what a difference they can make in your life.I now live the life of my dreams with a career I feel passionate about. I no longer work to live, but rather live to work. My desire as a Retirement Coach is to help baby boomers discover a life of meaning and purpose in their power years. Financial planning alone does not make for a happy, healthy and meaningful life. You owe it to yourself to create a Retirement Life Plan and enter this phase with a sense of confidence. Don't wait until you are feeling disillusioned, bored, lonely or depressed during what can be your Power Years. A Retirement Life Plan can open the door to finding focus, passion and joy. Clock Screensavers - Time Never Stops
Author : CD Mohatta
This article is about Clock screensavers and their message to us that- Time Never Stops. On the Internet, Clock Screensavers have been newly introduced. In these screensavers, there is a background video in flash of nature and a giant Clock ticking on it. The moving hand of clock never stops and that gives us the message about life. Let us see what?Screensavers were earlier used to protect the screens of computers. Now with latest technology, that is no more required. People still download screensavers in large quantities and enjoy watching them on the desktop. A beautiful visual of the screensaver can take us away from our daily stresses and relax our mind by showing us waterfalls, trees, rivers, ocean and clouds in the sky. Birds look equally enchanting, and if you watch a butterfly that can mesmerize you on your desktop. Screensavers with great visual are very effective in removing stress. Try them whenever you feel stressed or under tension.Clock screensavers combine a ticking clock on a screensaver. When you look at the scenes with the clock hand-moving non-stop on the screensaver the message is very poignant. Time never stops. Since billions of years, the only thing that has always gone ahead and never turned back is time. Time always moves forward and the clock never turns back. A clock screensaver on the screen reminds us about how valuable this time is. We are all given short lives. Every second counts. Utilizing time to do something good is the best way to spend time. Use time to achieve your goals and use time to help others.A majority of us take time for granted. We always believe that we have enough time left to do so many incomplete jobs. But that is not so. We don't know how much time is allotted to us by nature. We don't know when we shall go away to the great beyond. A clock screensaver tells us not to delay saying a Thank You or apologizing. Not to delay helping anyone in need. Who knows – tomorrow may never come for us. This is the message of Clock screensavers.CD Mohatta writes for ecards and online greetings, screensavers and desktop wallpapers. The topics of his writings include love, inspiration, holidays, birthdays, nature, religion and spirituality, success etc. You can have his writings on your desktop with free screensavers. Focus On Your Strengths, Delegate Your Weaknesses
Author : Lorraine Pirihi
Debbie was the Director of her own computer company, employing four staff.Debbie had a hectic lifestyle. She worked long hours, had three children and a husband to organise and on top of that was in the middle of a major renovation of her own home. To make matters even worse, she was also studying for a Bachelor of Computer Science! No wonder she was stressed out! Here was a situation where she had overburdened herself unnecessarily. She had far too much going on in her life and something was about to snap!Debbie was unable to sleep properly with all the worry and strain of juggling everything and had neglected her own self in the process.Debbie looked tired and haggard when I first met her. She was 15 kg overweight and looked at least 10 years older than she really was. She had lost touch with what was really important to her. Debbie was trying to be superwoman! She had taken on far too much and was forced to review her lifestyle (or lack of it) or she would either have a nervous breakdown or die in the process. The Solutions
In working with my clients I always get them to write down all the activities and responsibilities they are currently involved in, both at work and home using my weekly planner.By writing them down you can clearly see what is really important and what isn't. You can also see where you fill up your day with unnecessary activity. With Debbie there were many areas where she could free up her time to give her the time for herself as the number one priority and get some sanity back into her life. Before Adding, Look at Subtracting
I suggested to Debbie that she needed to look at which activities and responsibilities she could defer, delete, delegate or outsource. This is what she chose to do:Defer her Computer Science Degree until the following year.Organise a building company to project manage her home renovation. Up until that time she had been organising the whole project on her own!Hire a babysitter with a car who could pick her kids up from school and run them around to their activities. The babysitter would also cook the dinner and do other light domestic duties.Utilise her bookkeeper much more by delegating to her basic administration tasks, which she was very capable of doing. Her bookkeeper was only employed three days a week and was delighted to work an extra day assisting Debbie with other tasks.Attend her local gym at 6.00 a.m. three mornings a week and once on the weekend. She also sought advice on her diet. Within four weeks you could see the change in Debbie. She was more confident now that she had taken control of her situation; her life was getting back on track! The Final WordWhy waste your precious time working on tasks, which are definitely not your forte when you can delegate or invest your money on a product or service which will free up your time? You can then focus on the more important areas in your business and your life. It's really easy not to invest money in yourself.Do you spend money on your car, your computer, your business, your home and other 'things' in your life? Are you not worthy enough to invest in yourself? Is the price you pay for neglecting yourself really worth it?What can you defer, delete, delegate or outsource so that you can have more time for living your life?Lorraine Pirihi is Australia's No. 1 Productivity Coach. She's also a dynamic presenter and a leading business and life coach. Her business The Office Organiser specialises in showing small business owners and managers, how to get organised at work so they can have a life!
Stop Trying to Beat the Clock
Author : Jeff Casmer
One of the most commonly heard expressions used in the discussion of time management is "beating the clock." People want to find a way to avoid time's limitations and to function freely without feeling pressured by the tick-tock that marks every second. It seems as if everyone wants to find a way out from under the tyranny of time. They seek out time management strategies as a way to do this. They are always disappointed with the results. They may increase their efficiency. They may be slightly less busy. However, the clock continues to tick and time remains short. Some surrender. Others redouble their efforts to beat the clock.Unfortunately, those who try to beat the clock are fighting an unbeatable foe. The clock keeps on ticking no matter what one does. Time marches on, as they say, and no one can stop it.The key to successful time management is to recast time as an ally, instead of as an enemy. When one makes that fundamental shift in perspective, maximizing efficiency becomes far easier. By learning to work within time frames instead of vainly trying to stretch, bend or crush time, one can have a far more successful time management experience. The key to making that shift in perspective is to recognize that time truly is inevitable and unyielding. A force that can turn coal to diamonds and boulders to sand is not the kind of force with which a time manager needs to be wrestling! Time passes. That is an unchanging fact.Time is not malleable. One cannot bend it to their hearts content. Regardless of the force applied, there will still be twenty-four hours in a day and seven days in a week. One cannot change the core essence of time. What one can do is work within time. They can learn to recognize that its constraints are real and permanent. Instead of fighting with it, they can simply accept it and look for ways to work within it. That may sound like an impossibly abstract concept, but it is not. It merely means that one stops trying to do battle with this giant force called time and instead looks to its structure and rhythms for clues about how to best occupy its space. If you are still trying to beat the clock, you should know that you will lose. Eventually, if you let it, the clock will beat you. Optimally, however, you can avoid that fate by finding away to shift your attitude and to look for ways to work with time instead of against it.Those who experience the most success with time management are those who understand the limitations of time. They have abandoned the long standing feud with this great force and instead have opted to co-exist peacefully with it. They choose their battles more carefully and are happy to focus their energies on things over which they may actually be able to exert a degree of controlJeff Casmer is an award winning entrepreneur, keynote speaker, and internet marketing consultant with career sales over $25,000,000.
