A Living Sacrifice

Author : Paul Davis
As you build a place in your heart unto God, the peace of God will flood your soul and take control. The altar that Gideon built to the Lord was called "The Lord is Peace" (v. 24). That is precisely what God will do for you and me when we fully sacrifice our lives to Him. It is undoubtedly a peace that surpasses our understanding (Phil. 4:7).The peace that comes from God overrules and supersedes your mind. God's ways do not allow your mind to be in control, as the Spirit takes over and becomes preeminent. It is not a mental thing, but a spiritual thing. Get in the Spirit of the Lord and surpass the mental arena. Give the sacrifice of your life today to God and fully surrender the areas of the heart that the Lord is dealing with you about.
Manoah took a young goat and grain offering, which he sacrificed to the Lord (Jdg. 13:19). The Lord then did an amazing thing while Manoah and his wife watched. As the flame blazed up from the altar toward heaven, the angel of the Lord ascended in the flame (v. 20-22). Manoah trembling in fear said, "We are doomed to die! We have seen God!"Manoah did not understand the purpose of the divine visitation he received. It was not to kill or even scare him. God is not a killer, but rather a life giver. Seeing God or encountering His Presence should not cause us to fear. You are not doomed to die. God has your best interest at heart. Remember, God is a good God. As the flame of God blazed up toward heaven, so too should you continually be ablaze for God and move upward in the realm of the Spirit. As the angel of the Lord ascended in the flame, so also will you ascend in God as you lay aside the sinful weights and tendencies that bind you and keep you from life in the Spirit of Christ. Give yourself unto God afresh as a living sacrifice, that you may be set ablaze for God and begin climbing higher in the realm of the Spirit. To be a living sacrifice means to daily present your body holy and acceptable to God (Rom. 12:1). This is your reasonable service as a child born of the Spirit of God. It is not grievous or burdensome in the least, but rather reasonable. That is to say it is expected of you. It is not too much to ask. Considering that Christ Jesus gave His body on a tree for us, it is a small thing for us to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice unto God.Furthermore, we are not to be conformed to this world and all its dictates. We are to be transformed by the renewing of our mind (Rom. 12:2). Mind renewal is part of our daily regiment. It is our responsibility to purify ourselves and renew our minds. We are to have the mind of Christ. We are to have crucified the carnal mind and all its lusts, so that Christ in us can live and be glorified throughout the earth. Upon renewing our minds, we will be well able to prove the good, acceptable and perfect will of God.The above excerpt has been taken from Paul Davis' book "Holy Ghost Fire or Hellfire?
