The Whole Truth About Affirmations Finally Revealed!

Author : Fabricio Astelo
Affirmations have been one of the cornerstones of 98% of all self-help products. Some authors just stick them in their products only because every other product has them, so they can't go wrong. Most of the times, they didn't even give it a fair trial to experiment with the results. Are affirmations really as effective as authors claim? To answer this question we have to consider their source. The first person to identity and understand affirmations as a way to personal development and self change was the psychologist Émile Coué around the 1900's.You may know the following affirmation:"Tous les jours à tous points de vue je vais de mieux en mieux" ("Every day, in every way, I am getting better and better")He said that by repeating a sentence as self-suggestion, one can condition their mind to produce a result when required according to the affirmation formula. And yes, they worked very well! So well that the pioneers of the self help industry like Napoleon Hill and Dale Carnegie swore by them. So every self-help author started adding them to their books. Right up to the modern authors like Anthony Robbins and Brian Tracy.Do they still work as they should?Take a look at the modern age. Notice how marketing evolved 5000%; people are trying to influence you every way you turn. Even without leaving your apartment you can be persuaded to think of a certain way or act a certain way.You can spend 10m saying affirmations in front of a mirror but if after this you spend 2 hours mindlessly watching TV or browsing the Internet you can make sure they won't work as they should.Think about it. All those good and carefully worded affirmations you just said will be counter by dozens of ads that just pop up when your mind is wandering aimlessly only to be all absorbed by the unconscious.Either like it or not, advertisements and marketing influence us a great deal.In the beginning of the XX century (and late XIX) TV didn't exist and marketing wasn't as aggressive as it is now. Hence the result they experience on their affirmations brainwashing experiments. Now, we have people trying to brainwash you everywhere! For this technique to work you have to be a very inward person, someone very centered in yourself. Remove TV from your house and censor your Internet usage, and I'll assure you that the affirmations will work better! You just have to do your best to remove the constant bombardment of ads and influencing means. Some of them you really can't avoid, like the billboards on the street but in your house you can control what gets in.Even with all those precautions, the unavoidable influencing means are enough to stop you from experiencing the FULL results that many people experienced in the beginning of the twentieth century. In short, affirmations are useful, but not nearly as useful as many authors claim or as they were a century ago. They're merely one other tool and at this moment there are many others which are more effective than affirmations.Fabricio Astelo Is A Personal Development Coach And Is Currently Writing A Free Newsletter With Many Free Personal Development Courses.
