Prioritising your time can make our lives alot easier and productive. By making the conscious decision of writing a list the day or night before of all the important tasks you need to perform, it creates clarity in ones mind, and at the same time an action plan for the day ahead. The real challenge is writing down tasks for the week ahead, and even the month.I have found through experience that writing ten tasks down the night before, and then placing them in order on a scale of 1-5, has worked very well for me. By doing the tasks I least wanted to do first, like making that important call/s, or paying those important bills, would free me to complete the other tasks more easily and effectively. It would also add structure to my day, so I would be able to add quality 'me' time into my schedule. For example, I love to go to the gym and work out, which I believe is an important and enjoyable part of my day, so I make that a priority of 3 out of 5. This is because I look upon it as a reward for completing work related tasks, which have a significant impact on my income.
Like most people, I come to the end of the day, and discover that I have not completed all the tasks on my list. This can be for various reasons, such as spending more time than I had anticipated on my priority tasks, or indeed being distracted by something or someone.I then transfer those tasks I hadn't done onto the following days list, and look to follow them through. I have picked up alot of these ideas from personal development books, and implemented them into my life. This has given me more confidence and clarity of mind, and significantly, kept my stress levels down, which is good for my blood pressure!I also organise my house, keeping things in order, without clutter everywhere. I religiously take time every week to clear out any clutter I have in the house, like old clothes that I give to charity shops, and newspapers that I have read. Because I realise the vacuum that I have created will be filled almost immediately with new, fresh items.I have also used the list idea for weekends and whilst on holiday, although the activites appear to be more pleasurable, mainly featuring rest and relaxation. To Your SuccessDanny Anderson.
